Welcome to the official website of Camejo Hospital in Haiti

The Camejo Hospital is a private structure financed exclusively by the cost of services provided to patients. It contains 28 beds distributed as follows: Emergency: 5 - Maternity: 2 - Pediatrics: 5 - Internal Medicine: 8 - Private Rooms: 8. Currently, the institution operates 24/7

Located in Chatuley, at the entrance of the city of Léogane, the Camejo Hospital is the fruit of “Polyclinique Camejo”. The latter, established in the city of Anacaona since 1982 by doctors Joseph and Marie Carmel D. Charles, has largely contributed to provide quality health care to the population of Leogane and surrounding communities in the South of Haiti.

What makes our difference?

The patient who arrives for urgent care is welcomed quickly without prior administrative formalities (unlike almost all other hospitals in Haiti). This provision gives us the reputation of being the only hospital in the region not to let a patient die because of lack of money. Moreover, our competent and professional staff ensures the immediate care of all our patients and practice clinical exams in the shortest time, 24/7

Services offered:

This service includes a consulting room and two common rooms, men (3 beds) and women (5 beds). Several internists on rotation provide care for outpatients and hospitalized patients. It should be noted that the 8 private rooms are available for all other services as well.
This service includes 2 rooms: The 1st room in which we receive patients requiring immediate care (3 beds). The second is intended for patients requiring a short observation period (2 beds).
This service includes: A labor room, a room for nappy suites (2 beds) A consultation and ultrasound section. The maternity section is provided by two Obstetricians-Gynecologists and nurses on rotation.
With a staff of 5 medical technologists, the laboratory performs examinations in the following branches: hematology, biochemistry, parasitology, serology, infectiology, just to name a few. It should be noted that certain special examinations (such as: electrophoresis of hemoglobin and proteins, tests autoimmunity, etc.) are also available at the hospital but these tests are sent to another more equipped laboratory in the capital of Haiti (Port-au-Prince).
We offer many other services such as radiology, physiotherapy, urology etc. Visit the "Our services" page to find out more.

Camejo in the news

August 14th, 2021 Earthquake in the South of Haiti

On August 14th, 2021, a 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit the south of Haiti. The epicenter was not too far from the Camejo Hospital. Every day since, we’ve received and treated several victims of the earthquake free of charge. Help us continue providing medical relief to those who need it the most. Head over to our Donation page to make a tax-deductible donation that will go directly to our 100% locally owned and operated hospital.

Camejo Group started in 2002

In 2002, we set up the organization GROUPE CAMEJO (Conceived for Medical and Educational Action by Organized Youth) whose objective was to build a hospital capable of providing adequate care to the population. In addition, educational action in the medical field would allow us to train a good number of young people. We have therefore opted for progressive construction, with expansion over time, depending on demand and available funds.

Today, more than 16 years later, the hospital grounds have several building units spanned lengthwise, namely: Guard, Maternity, Outpatient clinic and operating theater, Main building and warehouse.

Formalities to be completed by our regular patients (not those needing emergency care)

The regular patient pays for their consultation and sits in the waiting room. When their number is called, they enter the office where the medical assistant enters their contact information in and create their file. Then, the patient is seen by his doctor who takes their medical history and performs their physical examination. At this point, they receive a prescription for their lab tests, which in most cases are done on the same day at the hospital.

If patient deserves immediate relief or if the diagnosis is obvious, he may also receive a prescription. After the administrative formalities, the patient is directed to the collection room, radiology, ECG ... then awaits the results before returning to the doctor for the final prescription or for any other decision deemed necessary.
